A Different Thanksgiving in 2020

Most of us will have a different Thanksgiving celebration this year.  I normally host our family for Thanksgiving and this year for the first time I won’t be hosting anyone.  It will be just my immediate family of four.  I will miss our traditional, annual get together.  With this strange year, I’m trying to use this opportunity to try something new.  With no getting the house ready for guests and cooking for fifteen people, I suddenly find myself more relaxed and have time to do things that I normally don’t get to do during the Thanksgiving holiday.  For example, I’ve always wanted to do a 5K race that many people do on Thanksgiving morning, which allows them to feel more energized and rewarded to eat a big meal later in the day.  I’ve never been able to participate in the race, since my Thanksgiving involves cooking from 8 am until dinner time.  Then, I would clean up after dinner and wouldn’t be done until 10 pm.  As much as I enjoy seeing everyone, hosting can be exhausting and I’m literally on my feet from morning until night.  As you can imagine, I’m looking forward to my Thanksgiving this year as it will be less stressful and I get to do something different.  Yes, I will still make a Thanksgiving meal, but cooking for four people will take a lot less time and effort than for fifteen people.  As for doing the 5K race, I haven’t decided if I’m actually doing one.  I might just end up sleeping in and take a nice walk or just a quick jog in my neighborhood.  Whatever I end up doing, I will do it stress-free and that’s not a bad thing given the kind of year that we have had.  Happy Thanksgiving!
