What’s on the Menu? Double Chocolate Biscotti
Who knew I would miss having double chocolate biscotti as much as I had? I was first introduced to it when the beautiful wife of my husband’s colleague gifted us a very generous batch of homemade double chocolate biscotti during one Christmas holiday season. This became a well-loved tradition in our house. Every Christmas holiday over several years, we would receive these delicious baked goods from her. I have come to rely on these wonderful biscotti to accompany my daily afternoon cappuccino indulgence during the winter months. I was also able to share this gift with a few of my friends, since what we received was such a generous quantity. Sadly, when the pandemic hit, this tradition ended, just like many good things that had to end.
After unsuccessfully trying to get the recipe from our gift giver, I scoured for recipes online. Relying on only my memory of their taste and appearance, I scrutinized the recipes to determine which one would produce the biscotti closest to the one our gift giver makes. When I came across a recipe from the website called Once Upon a Chef with Jenn Segal, I knew I was onto something promising. Once Upon a Chef’s double chocolate biscotti recipe is easy and much to my surprise, the yielded biscotti taste just like the ones I’ve been craving. I followed the recipe exactly in order to ensure the outcome tastes like the ones I hope to re-create. In the future, I would perhaps add more chocolate chips than the recipe indicates.
