Tennis & Cocktails

Not sure what fun and safe activity you can enjoy with your friends during this time?  Tennis has been identified as one of the few safe activities by health experts.  By its nature, tennis is already a social distancing sport, whether you play singles or a doubles match.  With that said, you still have to take precautions, such as not sharing balls and keeping distance from each player.  If you share balls for serving, you have to be vigilant with sanitizing your hands.

To turn your tennis match into a true social outing, add in some cocktails! Our good friend recently hosted a doubles match and cocktails at her tennis club and really went above and beyond!  She served skinny margaritas in (oh so) pretty margarita glasses with ice and sliced lime.  She also provided tortilla chips and salsa, all of which were served in individual bowls.  All four players were outdoors, well spread out, and never were in close contact with one another.  It was great fun catching up and after just one glass of margarita each, we were happy to call it a night.  Hosting social events with friends during this trying time can be simple, enjoyable, and safe.  Here are some tips to make your tennis social event remarkable!

Pretty Barware:  You must serve your cocktail of choice in beautiful glasses.  This is where you can shine and make your guests feel special.  I recommend acrylic and portable barware that are suitable for outdoors.  See pictures to shop for similar styles, which are from either Amazon.com or Wayfair.com.

Appealing Cocktail: Select a cocktail everyone will enjoy.  Contact your guests and determine the cocktail of choice prior to the event. To keep things simple, bring only one kind and make it ahead, so it is ready to serve.

Delicious Snacks: Bring simple snacks that will pair well with your beverage.  For example, tortilla chips and salsa with margaritas; crackers and cheese with wine, etc.

Extra Fixings: Bring ice if your cocktail requires it.  Also, include garnishes such as sliced limes for margaritas, olives with martinis, etc.

Safe Environment: Keep your guest counts manageable. One doubles match is the perfect setup.  It’s easier to social distance when your guest count is low.  Please drink responsibly.  I recommend only one serving per guest.  Think of it more as a tasting and capping off the tennis match.  Enjoy!
