As We Continue to Dream...
Now that we are on the verge of considering travel again, we are adding destinations to our dream list because, let’s face it, we’ve never stopped dreaming. Dreaming of future travel has been a key part of maintaining our spirits during this past year. Since we won’t be going far quite yet, we will certainly be adding more dream destinations to our list in the coming months…Thanks to our friends who have shared these amazing photos with us!
Our Wish List:
CANDICE:
Scotland
Our oldest chose to attend university in Scotland. Somehow, we got to visit for a whirlwind tour in early 2020 and then he got to go to school for his first semester in the Fall. He is now home, eagerly awaiting the opportunity to return to school in Fall 2021. His brothers never got to see the school and we parents didn’t get to really explore the area or even visit Edinburgh. So, one of the first places on our travel list is Scotland for a family trip. We are looking forward to touring Edinburgh, exploring some villages and towns, and hiking in the Scottish highlands. And, of course a visit to Scotland would not be complete without an excursion to a castle.
Amsterdam, Netherlands
The canals, the flowers, the bikes, the windmills. Can't wait to see this vibrant city in action!
Glacier National Park, Montana
Our family loves visiting National Parks and Glacier National Park may be the most majestic of them all!
Puerto Rico
My father's parents are originally from Puerto Rico. My brother and I were able to spend 6 weeks exploring Puerto Rico, but that was nearly 25 years ago. Looking forward to showing my kids this beautiful place and part of their cultural history.
Iceland
For the incredible natural beauty, I would like to make this an adventurous family experience.
Hawaii
My husband and I were fortunate to travel here several years ago for our first ever trip without the kids (thank you, Gigi!), and I've been saving up credit card rewards points to go back ever since! This time, the kids want to join us!
STACEY:
Ireland
My husband is 100% Irish and has never been, so we are looking forward to a family heritage road trip. (Photo credit: Aisling Kelly Photography)
Rome & Sicily, Italy
Twenty years ago we went skiing in Cortina, Italy with a one day stop in Rome. We fell in love with the city and are looking forward to going again, but this time we want to stay a month and really get to know the city, people, and culture.
Park City, Utah
We love skiing and Park City has great skiing and a fun town and night life.
London, England
London has so much history. We want to go for 2 weeks and explore all the historical sites and museums.
Crete, Greece
Beach and Greek salad - what more could you want?!
THIP:
French Countryside, France
The Escape to the Chateau show has reignited my interest to explore the various regions of the French countryside. This includes the region of Aquitaine, Occitanie, Loire Valley, and Provence. I hope to sample the regional cuisines and their wines.
Corfu, Greece
I saw a photo of Corfu in a photography exhibit about 20 years ago and instantly wanted to visit it one day. We visited other Greek Islands, the Cyclades Islands in the Aegean Sea, but didn’t have the opportunity to visit Corfu as it is on the northwest coast of Greece in the Ionian Sea.
Croatia
Croatia has long been viewed as a great destination and not as crowded, compared to more popular European locales. With its beautiful sea lined towns and gorgeous beaches, I would love to visit before it is inundated with tourists.
Brittany, France
I would love to explore Brittany’s walled cities and learn about its rich history. A book set in Saint Malo that I recently read has reignited my interest to visit this region of France.
Denmark
Visiting Denmark has been on my bucket list for a while now. I would love to see its architecture and taste the delicious pastries.
Southern Coast, Italy
I have never traveled to the southern coast of Italy, only to Rome and various cities north of Rome. Next time, I plan to travel to the southern coast, starting at Naples, going along the Amalfi Coast, and visiting Positano.
