House Guest Hall of Fame

House Guest Hall of Fame

Here are some of the highlights we’ve experienced hosting our wonderful families over the years. Now may be the perfect time to remind all of us of the stresses of hosting house guests…maybe we won’t mind taking a break from hosting for a bit…Again, we won’t use names, but you know who you are!

  • sneezing into a brand new newspaper that isn’t yours

  • backing up into mailbox, knocking it over, and never realizing or mentioning it

  • guest’s dog pooping on your carpet – and then your spouse steps in it

  • bringing a huge tray of sushi despite the host specifically requesting you not to because your guests fill up on the sushi and then aren’t hungry when dinner is served

  • asking for lunch when you’re invited for dinner

  • making a full breakfast for just you as everyone else is preparing Thanksgiving dinner

  • rushing you to serve dinner, so they can go to their next event

  • always asking for something specific that your host does not have and therefore has not offered

  • showing up with an uninvited guest after the table has already been set and all of the sleeping arrangements have already been made

  • finding your guests’ dogs licking the creme brulee you left on the kitchen counter to cool

  • discovering your sweet little nieces using your son’s wall as a coloring book

  • somehow closing the garage door while you are in the middle of driving through it causing damage to the door and the car

  • showing up unannounced at 3am, trying to get into the house, which causes the dogs to bark and wake everyoone up

  • breaking stuff without telling the homeowner

  • unannounced guests – everyone is always welcome, but can we be told ahead of time?

How come nearly everything on this list happened at my house?!
