A Fun, New Attraction in New York City: SUMMIT One Vanderbilt
Are you searching for a new fun activity to do in New York City? My family and I visit the City a few times a year and we are always looking for something different to do. We’ve visited the well-loved attractions such as the Statue of Liberty, Empire State Building, Top of the Rock, Times Square, One World Trade Center (Freedom Tower), and many more. During our most recent trip to the City, we checked out the new skyscraper called SUMMIT One Vanderbilt on East 42nd Street, next to Grand Central Station. The building was completed in 2019, but due to the pandemic, the SUMMIT opened to the public in 2021.
SUMMIT One Vanderbilt offers stunning views of the city via the observation deck. There are three different levels for guests to explore and each level has multiple rooms offering different art installations. One of the main levels is covered in mirrors from floor to ceiling. Visitors are required to wear shoe covers (they provide them) to protect the mirrored floors. Every visitor is being reflected in multiple angles and you feel you’re a part of the art exhibit. You can lay on the mirrored floor and look up at the ceiling, taking in all the reflections and views. The surrounding side walls offer the best view of the city. Another room is populated with silvery helium balls in various sizes floating and bouncing. Every visitor seems to enjoy playing with the floating balls. Another exploring option is to walk out into a glass balcony (Levitation) where you feel like you’re suspended in the air. And for an extra fee, you can take a glass elevator (Ascent) up an additional ten floors to see the view of the city. As the elevator ascends, you can peer through the see-through elevator floor, which will make you feel either excited or unsettled. There’s also a beautiful terrace where you can appreciate the sweeping view, while sipping cocktails and enjoying snacks. You have the option to experience the city view at nighttime, as well. SUMMIT One Vanderbilt is truly a unique experience.
