Family

kids - partners - aging parents - siblings

Ahh, Family.  Love, love, love them, but they can be a whole lot of work.  Here we will feature weekly tidbits from our lives and our roles as caregivers for both our children and our aging parents.  The stories will be highly censored to protect the privacy of our loved ones (and to protect us from their wrath), but we will use this space to inform others of our lessons learned and as humor therapy for enduring some of the more challenging moments.

We’ve been so busy learning life’s lessons, we’ve been neglecting to post them.  Here are our latest lessons:

-Don’t put your envelopes that need to be hand delivered in the same pile with those that need to be mailed – especially if you stop at the mailbox first…

-When you are wearing tight pants, you must remember not to kneel down – especially if you are out in public and aren’t wearing underwear…

-Don’t try to say you slept in your bed last night, when you never put away the freshly folded laundry that was left sitting on your bed yesterday…

-If you punish your son for misbehaving by sending him to bed early, be forewarned that he may take something from your room, like your tv remote, as payback.  You won’t discover this until you conduct an all-out search of your room and are unable to locate it and then your son says, “oh, I know what happened to it.  I took it when you punished me that night.”

-Don’t wear your sunglasses when you are just “checking out” the ocean, unless you are prepared to lose them when you get tossed by an unexpectedly powerful wave.

-We thought everyone knew this, but apparently not…when you are prescribed antibiotics, take them until they are completely gone, even if you feel better sooner.

Check back for updates of the latest escapades and lessons learned from our “sandwiched” lives.
