Don’t Be Too Proud to Ask for Assistance at an Airport

Upon an overseas flight, I thought I was doing everything right, such as hiring a car service to alleviate the stress of driving, parking, and saving any unnecessary storage fees, as well as arriving extra early so there would be no hassles at the airport. Little did I realize, however, that our gate would be the last in a very long terminal. A half a mile to a mile is no joke, but not so unusual at international airports. This turned into a physically challenging experience and resting at every gate to rest my aching legs was an ordeal. We finally made it to the gate in the nick of time.
Lesson Learned
There is wheel chair assistance for a reason. Don’t be too proud to use it! This is a free service. The airlines are doing something right. Order when you make your reservations or at check in at the airport. The only slight inconvenience is sometimes you will be sitting for a while since people are transported according to assistant availability and the time of departure. The plus side, however, far outweighs this minor inconvenience. Being rushed through security, customs, baggage, and rental car lines is priceless! Many senior citizens would no longer be able to travel without WA. Giving the attendant a small tip of $5 or in some cases (depending upon time) $20 is a small price to pay for this needed service. On a recent trip, the attendant even put the luggage in our rental car. Was my husband happy—his back saved again! We did not want her to leave us and offered to take her on vacation with us!
