Life Lessons - February 2021

Having a college student home, provides ample opportunities for learning new life lessons.  For instance:

When you need to bring your ID (and for whatever reason you don’t want to bring your wallet), make sure you grab your actual ID out of your wallet and not your expired AAA card – surprisingly, that doesn’t count as legal ID.

When you have to wear a bathing suit in the middle of winter because you have no other clean underwear or shorts, you should probably reassess your laundry habits.

Tweens also provide plenty of learning opportunities…

Disabling the wifi from the xbox does not disable your 12 year old’s ability to play video games until the wee hours.

Verifying your child is awake in the morning, does not mean he remains awake for his remote learning.

Teaching your child to use a cloth napkin is insufficient; you must teach him to re-use that napkin rather than grab a new napkin every time he needs to wipe his hands or face.  Otherwise, your 20+ napkin supply becomes depleted each day during remote learning.

Other recent lessons…

If you want to be sure you receive a gift you want, consider making it a “family” gift (this works particularly well for small appliances or home comfort items)

When you leave out snacks for the delivery people, you have to monitor them or else your family may swipe all of the “good” stuff.
